Nancy Pelosi - "Jesus was a pro-abortion socialist" - Really?

Nancy Pelosi is either delusional, stupid or horribly misinformed. In one of her recent statements she proclaimed that She Has a Duty to Pursue Policies in Keeping With The Values of Jesus, 'The Word Made Flesh'

Really? I'm pretty sure Jesus would have been against abortion. I'm also pretty sure Pelosi is due for an errant lightning strike sometime real soon.

( reported:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says she believes she must pursue public policies "in keeping with the values" of Jesus Christ, "The Word made Flesh."

Pelosi, who is a Catholic and who favors legalized abortion, voted against the ban on partial-birth abortion that was enacted into law in 2003.

On it continues:

At a May 6 Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill, the speaker said: “They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”

I guess Pelosi is unfamiliar with the saying "actions speak louder than words". Thus far Pelosi's actions are not in accordance with the faith she professes.

After Pope Benedict XVI met privately with Speaker Pelosi in February 2009, the Vatican issued a statement saying: "His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church's consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in co-operation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development."

I wonder if Pelosi understood what all of that meant? I would guess that it fell on deaf ears.  Pelosi seems more concerned with the return of voters in November than with the return of her saviour. Nothing Pelosi has done thus far is consistent with the doctrines Christians hold dear. She has aligned herself with a party that advocates abortion,  advocates against personal responsibility and openly decries the inclusion of God in any activity.

For now I have no advice for Pelosi; but to those in her inner circle I would strongly advise them to take a step back and watch the sky closely.

  1. Despite the fact that every idiot at times can sound intelligent - Dear Ms. Nancy - and her outrageous statements always leaves me to say: "No brains, no headaches"

  2. There's not a whole lot of wiggle room in the Catholic Church's teaching on abortion. However, the phrase "dignity of human life from conception to natural death" is not limited to the question of abortion, and in fact has some pretty serious implications on both sides of the political spectrum. The phrase suggests that questions of war and peace, poverty and wealth, end-of-life decisions and human rights in general are all up for discussion. Speaker Pelosi's policy preferences on abortion are certainly problematic for the Vatican--but then again, arguably, so are President Bush's policy preferences on the Iraq war, "enhanced interrogation," and poverty policy. The Catholic Church's vision of human dignity also has implications leading to what most conservatives would consider a radical view on the question of illegal immigration. If we are going to use Catholic doctrine to criticize Speaker Pelosi, we need to do so with the awareness that it is not limited to the question of abortion.

  3. Perhaps her referencing of "Jesus" is actually a friendly illegal that she's given a job to in San Francisco, and not or the Savior and Son of God we're all familiar?

  4. What blasphemy!
